"What is DREAMPANORAMA?

Dream Panorama is a road trip project to explore peoples’ dreams and how they realize them.

During the journey, we will interview, photograph and film real people around the world who have dreams or have achieved their dreams. We are getting the stories of their dreams out to the world by our website, social media, book, exhibition, and a documentary film. Ten years after the trip, we will come back to the interviewees to see how their dreams have impacted their lives."

Life in a Day

"Oscar-winning film director Kevin Macdonald's Life in a Day was born out of a unique partnership between Ridley Scott's Scott Free UK and YouTube. The film is a user-generated, feature-length documentary shot on a single day—July 24, 2010.

Enlisted to capture a moment of the day on camera, the global community responded by submitting more than 80,000 videos to YouTube. SPACE DIVIDERS

The space dividers i have been working on range from wide elastics, yarn, elastic cord, rope, etc...

When confronted with a wall as a problem I settled on wall interactivity. I found that the term interactive was commonly being linked with technology based solutions and interactive walls are now predominantly thought of as technology based. When mentioning interactive wall’s to people they tend to think of walls that are made in a high tech complicated way. This is why I want to investigate different types of interactive walls and ways in which to make a simple wall with regards to materials and function. A back to basics approach.

The main three functions that I want this room divider to have are; to have the audience separate the layers for light and to make the area more sociable (as mentioned above), using the tight layers of material to temporarily place objects between them and last but not least to motivate the audience to touch the piece and understand the room divider because of its human instinct functionality and common materials used in an unconventional way.

Elastic Space Divider Prototype

first day - Getting all the materials together and finishing up the frame. Sealed the frame today to have it ready for spray painting tomorrow

second day - Sand papering, wiping, and spray painting the frame with white primer again and again.

third day -Adding the black wide elastic to the frame and stapling down each layer to prevent it from shifting from side to side and from getting loose.

fourth day - placing the Space Divider in the exhibition space

fifth day - used filler to fill in the cracks where the pieces of wood were attached to each other. Then sanded it down and generously painted the Space Divider with white primer for a perfect finish.

I decided to add objects between the layers of the elastic to show one of its functionalities, and ended up using balloons since it has an various interesting shapes and bright colours.

The different angles in the images are to analyse which shape and colour best contributes to the context and the space divider. After going through a few balloons I resulted in using the orange long balloon, because it complimented the Space Divider best.

Vertical or Horizontal?
Vertical.

Although I prefer the space divider in a horizontal position, for the size of the prototype and space of the exhibition it works best if its in a vertical position. Doing this showed me that the Space Divider is diverse and can work in both positions.

3D Skecthes on TRANSFORMATION

3D sketches on furniture designs that have more than one step of transformation. This gives the user an option to chose what they would like to do with their surroundings by either leaving it an open space or by using it as a lounge area. This is possible because he desings are made to stay flat on the surface or can be pulled up i order to sit or lean on.

These 3D sketches can also be used on a wall to segregate areas instead of on the floor to create seating.

Here are a few of the rough 3D sketches that show thought process and development,

Learn which shapes bend well together to create a full form that can be used for multiple seats. Ideal for public social areas. E.g. Gallery space that at times needs to be flat for space and at other times needs to have more seating areas so it can be transforms from a floor to multiple seats.

The morph chair with multiple Velcro patches that enables the user to bend twist and attach it in anyway they feel most comfortable.

Carpets that can be pulled up from the ground and leaned against. Ideal for casual lounge areas such as TV rooms or family and friends lounge rooms.

Something a little bit different that doesn't transform but ca be used for a variety of surfaces and in a diverse range of contexts,

ARMOUR

These are a few samples of chairs that i have created around the world Armour. The designs derived from the idea of having an exterior Armour that transforms into another shape. The metamorphosis in this project was interesting because I got to see how different plastics react to heat given a different timing and temperature for each sample. The movement that was created as the plastics melted was mesmerizing and the end results were unpredictable.

Through trial and error I discovered that its best to wrap string around the plastics while they are on the metal sculptures (that made the chair shape) so that the plastic doesn't rise up and lose form as it melts.

The palstic sheets tightens around the hottest areas on the metal base

Plastic sheets tend to rise up when heated so its best to hold it down with string

Form of synthetic mesh after its heated place it somewhere cool and the plastic will fall straight off. If some pieces are held down simply cut them off, melting it further will only cause it to shrink.

The different colours of the straws create a wet look as the colours dissolves into one another.

Most successful form because it was tied down tightly around the shape of the base structure and none of the thread got caught between the thread. The transparent chair!
